Plan to spend the day with us at Britannia Beach!

Start your day with the 3K or 5K or jog-along with the little ones in the Wylie Ryan 1K and then plan to spend the day at the beach.
This is a unique event in the ‘city’ as we get to experience a taste of gentle ‘cross country’ as the run takes you through a grassy pathway in Britannia Park.

Held in in conjunction with the Ottawa River Triathlon, the Britannia Beach Run is a great way to start the day.  Play on the beach afterwards and then treat yourself to one of Ottawa’s finest burgers at the Baja Shack (seriously, they are the best)!

event highlights

  • A unique ‘in city’ cross country course
  • Watch triathletes competing alongside you as part of the Ottawa River Triathlon
  • Close proximity (like right there!) to the best burgers in Ottawa – plan to hit the patio afterwards and visit the Baja Shack
  • The comfort of indoor washrooms - not port-o-potties like most ‘other’ running events (LOL)
  • You will already be ‘parked’ if you plan to spend the day at the beach!

race memories
SMILE and say thank you to Sportstats for your free, downloadable finish line photos.  Make sure you do your best ‘I did it’ fist pump as you cross the finish line.  Sportstats is also providing finish line video coverage so you can see yourself walking, running, "somersaulting” to claim your finishers’ medal.  Go to sportstats.ca to set up a free Sportstats account to ‘claim’ your race day results. Got your race day smiles, click on the photo icon beside your name.   Make sure to share with your friends and family!

somersault iTaB
You will LOVE the Somersault event finishers’ medals and can choose to complete your race day experience with a personalized iTaB add-on. The iTaB allows you to put have your name and finish time engraved on a small plate which fits neatly in to the back of your finisher's medal. Click here to order your iTaB after the event, or select the iTaB option when you are entering online.

post race refreshments
Enjoy a banana, a granola bar, and either eLoad or Skratch brand fluid replacement after the run. We will announce in the pre-event newsletter which particular brand we will be offering on race day for this event. The Muscle MLK Team will be on hand to cheer you on to the finish and provide a Muscle MLK* and a high five! (*to those 16 years of age and older).

sportstats timing
We use ChampionChip Timing at all Somersault races. This timing system requires that all participants wear a ChampionChip band on their ankle during the race. This race band contains a computer chip that allows you to be timed.  No chip = no time.

You are responsible for obtaining your ChampionChip timing chip on race morning from the Sportstats Tent near the Finish Line.  Do this at least 30 minutes before your race - earlier is better!  Races will not be held up waiting for those who forgot their timing chip.

You must return your ChampionChip timing chip immediately after you cross the finish line.  You are responsible for the cost if it is not returned.

your results (age is as of December 31, 2017)
Results will be posted shortly after you finish the race. Please check the results as soon as you can, to be sure they are accurate. If there are discrepancies, go to the Sportstats van near the Finish Line and provide them with the information you think is correct. Please have the Sportstats Crew make any necessary changes on site as soon as possible in order to allow for award presentations to proceed.

Results will be posted in the results section at somersault.ca/results.htm within 24 hours of the race.

general information

All entrants should become familiar with the details on our General Information page. We have included information in this section that is not on the event information page, so please visit this section, even if you are familiar with the event.  It is also a good idea to re-read event information the week before the event to ensure you have the latest details regarding your upcoming race.

rules & regulations
Click here to go to the event Rules page.  Remember it is your responsibility to know and adhere to the rules.

your first race?
Click here to go to our Tips Page for race tips and ideas.

volunteers
If your kids, spouse, family members or friends are spectating why not volunteer them as officials/volunteers and let them have some fun too!  Email us ahead of time if you will help, so we can assign you - info@somersault.ca. You can also find out more on our Volunteer program page.

Clubs, teams and non-profit organizations are invited to inquire about our volunteer donation program - a donation in return for a group of members volunteering for the day.

race info updates
We will email the latest news updates to participants prior to the race.  These newsletters are very important as they will identify  changes, answer your questions and recommend race day procedures that will make your event day a better one.

Please provide an accessible email address on your entry form if you wish to receive these Newsletters. You may want to use a personal email address rather than your work email, because many employers utilize filters that will not let the Newsletter through.

The Champions Challenge & Junior Challenge program is for those of you who participate in more than one Somersault event, and who might be interested in seeing how you stack up against others in your overall, gender, and age group category, in the Somersault Event Series.

Each Somersault race is part of the Champions Challenge program. You can find more details and how you can score points on our Champions Challenge webpage!
