We are really excited about the 2012 Canadian Iron 226, Iron 113, and all the other races we are offering.

"The Canadian" is Ontario's only Iron 226 Triathlon & Duathlon, and successfully incorporates the Iron 226 SwimCycle, the Iron 113 Triathlon, Duathlon, SwimCycle, & Swim, the Olympic Triathlon, the Sprint Triathlon & Duathlon, the Super Sprint Triathlon, the Try A Tri, the Canoe & Kayak Triathlons, and the Wylie Ryan Kids' Surf and Turf.

To add to the excitement, we offer the Canadian Evening Marathon, Marathon Relay, and Half Marathon, as well as the Morning 3 & 8Km Runs.

It's a multi-sport day like no other!

We invite you, your family, and friends to participate, to volunteer, or to watch the amazing Iron 226, and all the other races that are part of the day. We anticipate more than 1,200 racers will line up on September 1st at the Canadian.

All races will enjoy traffic free courses and are spectator friendly. The day culminates with post race refreshments, meals and celebrations on site, where the stories and videos of the day are re-lived. The Iron 226 Awards Breakfast follows the next day.

We hope you include "The Canadian" in your 2012 event plans - you won't be disappointed!

try a tri challenge
It's back - and its for anyone who has always wanted to "Try a Tri", or for those who aren't too competitive. Mountain Bikes and Hybrid Bikes are welcome in this event, as well as road bikes.

super sprint triathlon
The Super Sprint is a race geared to those who are competitive, but who just want to race a short one.

olympic triathlon

The Olympic Distance Triathlon that many of you have been requesting, is back at the Canadian.  It is a great course, but it features a bike leg which is a little long at 45Km, but necessary for safety. We found a window in the day's schedule for the Olympic, where the road will be free of the Sprint, Super Sprint, and Try A Tri participants, but you will be keeping the Iron 226 cyclists company for awhile.

iron 226 & 113 swimcycle
The 226 & 113 SwimCycles are back this year, for those who can't or don't want to do the run.

The SwimCycle consists of the swim and the cycle portions of the Iron 226, and Iron 113 Triathlons. SwimCycle participants will start with the Triathlon participants, but will exit the T-Zone after the bike for the very short run to the Finish Line.

canoe & kayak triathlons
There are two divisions here; the Canoe Tri, and the Kayak Tri.  In the Kayak division, a participant completes the kayak, cycle, and the run solo.  In the Canoe division, the participant may have a partner of the same gender in the canoe portion of the tri, but then completes the remainder of the event solo.

You will enjoy a Mooney's Bay Beach start and finish, on the paddle leg. The course heads down the Bay towards Black's Rapids and the 2Km turn around buoy. It then returns to the beach where participants join the other triathletes and duathletes in the T-Zone, for the cycle and the run.

iron 226 time limit

We have imposed a 16 hour time limit on the iron 226 triathlon and a 15 1/2 hour time limit on the iron 226 duathlon.  In addition to these limits, the swim course will close at 2 hours, and the cycle course will close at 10 hours after the starts. Participants still on those courses at those times will be required to withdraw from the competition.

iron 113 time limit
The time limit on the Half Iron 113 is the same as for the Iron 226 race - so effectively, there isn't a time limit.

iron 113 & iron 226 age requirement
In the Iron and Half Iron Distance races, entry is only open to those 19 years of age or older. We cannot allow anyone younger than 19 to compete at these distances. We recommend that younger participants compete in the Sprint Triathlon, Try A Tri, Super Sprint Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon, or Kayak Triathlon.
