A fun, family/friend-oriented evening run in Gatineau.  The Night Lights 5 & 10 Km Runs, featuring the “Little Lights” 1 Km is a loop course to keep things ‘close’, but just dusky enough to make it a fun evening run featuring head lamps worn by all participants.

While the running season may be winding down, you can gather your friends and family to join in and walk or stroll the course which is secure of traffic during the event.

Join us afterwards in the cafeteria for food and friendship.  Bring your favourite dessert to share as it is a ‘potluck’ of sweetness after the warm chili bowl offered during our awards presentation.

Something for everyone and fun for all!

You can now ‘claim’ your results on the Sportstats page to gain access to your online performance certificate and any photos associated with the event.  Go to www.sportstas.ca.  Then, click on the ‘+’ sign, beside your name. You will LOVE the Somersault event finishers’ medals and can choose to complete your race day experience with a personalized iTaB add-on. The iTaB allows you to put have your name and finish time engraved on a small plate which fits neatly in to the back of your finisher's medal. Click here to order your iTaB after the event, or select the iTaB option when you are entering online.

aid stations
The finish line will serve as the 2.5 km aid station on each of the 5 and 10 km courses.  Given the nature of the looped course, runners will have access to water and/or Skratch brand fluid replacement every 2.5 km and at the finish.

post race refreshments - leatherworks catering on site
Cozy up in the cafeteria after your run and enjoy a bowl of chili. We are also inviting everyone to bring their favourite cookies or desserts to share at our dessert table. Additional chili bowls can be purchased during the registration process for family/friends who may be attending with you ($7 + HST/person).

dessert sharing table
In the cozy spirit of this event, we are inviting everyone to contribute their favourite cookies or cake or dessert at our sharing table.  You can drop your dessert at the Sharing Table before the event for everyone to enjoy post-event.  We invite you to provide a card with the name of your treat and list any specialties such as “peanut free’, or ‘contains nuts’, or ‘gluten free’, or ‘overloaded with chocolate’ - you get the idea!

sportstats timing
We use ChampionChip Timing at all Somersault races. This timing system requires that all participants wear a ChampionChip band on their ankle during the race. This race band contains a computer chip that allows you to be timed.  No chip = no time.

You are responsible for obtaining your ChampionChip timing chip on race morning from the Sportstats Tent near the Finish Line.  Do this at least 30 minutes before your race - earlier is better!  Races will not be held up waiting for those who forgot their timing chip.

You must return your ChampionChip timing chip immediately after you cross the finish line.  You are responsible for the cost if it is not returned.

your results (age is as of December 31, 2017)
Results will be posted shortly after you finish the race. Please check the results as soon as you can, to be sure they are accurate. If there are discrepancies, go to the Sportstats van near the Finish Line and provide them with the information you think is correct. Please have the Sportstats Crew make any necessary changes on site as soon as possible in order to allow for award presentations to proceed.

Results will be posted in the results section at somersault.ca/results.htm within 24 hours of the race.

directions & parking
Centre de formation professionnelle de l'Outaouais,
249 Cité-des-Jeunes,
Gatineau, Quebec J8Y6L2

FREE parking and plenty of it!

Your ideal parking is at the side of the Centre de formation professionnelle de l’Outaouais (P6B) which leads directly to the (back) door to take you to registration and the post-event awards/food.  Do NOT try to enter the front doors of the building as they are locked during the event.  Come around to the back. Loads of additional parking in and around the building, as well as the parking lots at Asticou.

We always recommend you Google Search the venue address for your easiest directions.

If you need to leave before the event site before the finish of the 10K, we recommend that you find parking offsite as you will not be allowed to leave the parking lots until the last runner has finished the course as it is a ‘secured’ course.

general information

All entrants should become familiar with the details on our General Information page. We have included information in this section that is not on the event information page, so please visit this section, even if you are familiar with the event.  It is also a good idea to re-read event information the week before the event to ensure you have the latest details regarding your upcoming race.

volunteers
If your kids, spouse, family members or friends are spectating why not volunteer them as officials/volunteers and let them have some fun too!  Email us ahead of time if you will help, so we can assign you - info@somersault.ca. You can also find out more on our Volunteer program page.

race info updates
We will email the latest news updates to participants prior to the race.  These newsletters are very important as they will identify  changes, answer your questions and recommend race day procedures that will make your event day a better one.

Please provide an accessible email address on your entry form if you wish to receive these Newsletters. You may want to use a personal email address rather than your work email, because many employers utilize filters that will not let the Newsletter through.

Because the event is later in the season and our ‘season-ending’ points event is the Ottawa Fall Colours Run, your Champions Challenge points from this years’ event will count towards next years’ points tally which makes this the first event in the 2018 Series.
