Join us for the Sydenham Lakeside Run this year.  What a beautiful site and course we have for you to enjoy!

Sydenham Village is a quaint, historic village nestled in a valley north of Kingston, Ontario.  It has all the amenities one could want in a small town. Believe it or not the town was founded more than 200 years ago, and has a distinguished history in agriculture, mining, railways, and now running!

“The Point” is a perfect setting for the Lakeside Run which will take you along the Cataraqui Trail (part of the Trans Canada Trail).

event highlights

  • Serene out and back courses.
  • Walkers are welcome
  • Finishers medals for all those who cross that finish line!
  • Held in conjunction with the Sydenham Triathlon/Duathlon so stay and cheer everyone on!
  • Royal Canadian Legion Branch 496 open post event if you want to drop by to enjoy their BBQ and ‘real’ refreshments

info
Read through the event webpage thoroughly – there’s lot of good info here.  If you have a question not covered here, contact info@somersault.ca

club of the event
We are very pleased to have the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 496 as our Club of the Event.  Their members are providing person power to the event in return for which the event is making a donation to them. Thanks to these local members for their support!

the cataraqui trail

The Cataraqui Trail is an interesting segment of the trail system of Eastern Ontario. It is a four season trail for hikers, cyclists, equestrians, snowmobiles, and cross-country skiers, and follows the former Canadian National Railway line from Strathcona near Napanee to Smiths Falls, a distance of 104 km. The Trail is also part of the Trans Canada Trail system.

We are grateful to be able to use part of the Catarqui Trail for the Sydenham Lakeside Run, and are pleased to make a donation to its continued development and maintenance.  We encourage you to visit the Trail web site at cataraquitrail.ca to learn more about it, purchase a membership, or make a donation towards its maintenance.

You can now ‘claim’ your results on the Sportstats page to gain access to your online performance certificate and any photos associated with the event.  Go to www.sportstas.ca.  Then, click on the ‘+’ sign, beside your name. You will have a choice of clicking on photo, certificate, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

post race
Enjoy a banana, a granola bar, and either eLoad or Skratch brand fluid replacement after the run. If you really want to treat yourself, stop by the Legion afterwards as they host a BBQ and have ‘real’ refreshments!  Cheapest ‘dogs’ in Town!

sportstats timing
We use ChampionChip Timing at all Somersault races. This timing system requires that all participants wear a ChampionChip band on their ankle during the race. This race band contains a computer chip that allows you to be timed.  No chip = no time.

You are responsible for obtaining your ChampionChip timing chip on race morning from the Sportstats Tent near the Finish Line.  Do this at least 30 minutes before your race - earlier is better!  Races will not be held up waiting for those who forgot their timing chip.

You must return your ChampionChip timing chip immediately after you cross the finish line.  You are responsible for the cost if it is not returned.

your results (age is as of December 31, 2017)
Results will be posted shortly after you finish the race. Please check the results as soon as you can, to be sure they are accurate. If there are discrepancies, go to the Sportstats van near the Finish Line and provide them with the information you think is correct. Please have the Sportstats Crew make any necessary changes on site as soon as possible in order to allow for award presentations to proceed.

Results will be posted in the results section at somersault.ca/results.htm within 24 hours of the race.

volunteers
If your kids, spouse, family members or friends are spectating why not volunteer them as officials/volunteers and let them have some fun too!  Email us ahead of time if you will help, so we can assign you - info@somersault.ca. You can also find out more on our Volunteer program page.

Clubs, teams and non-profit organizations are invited to inquire about our volunteer donation program - a donation in return for a group of members volunteering for the day.

race info updates
We will email the latest news updates to participants prior to the race.  These newsletters are very important as they will identify  changes, answer your questions and recommend race day procedures that will make your event day a better one.

Please provide an accessible email address on your entry form if you wish to receive these Newsletters. You may want to use a personal email address rather than your work email, because many employers utilize filters that will not let the Newsletter through.

The Champions Challenge & Junior Challenge program is for those of you who participate in more than one Somersault event, and who might be interested in seeing how you stack up against others in your overall, gender, and age group category, in the Somersault Event Series.

Each Somersault race is part of the Champions Challenge program. You can find more details and how you can score points on our Champions Challenge webpage!
