Hi Everyone!
There are only two months until we kick off the Somersault 2010 spring and summer event season. You are invited to check out this year’s Somersault Events at www.somersault.ca. The first events of the season are:
May 1 - Cumberland Duathlon & Relays
http://www.somersault.ca/eventcumberlanddu.htm
May 2 – Place d’Orleans Half Marathon, 10Km, 5Km, 3Km & Austin Wylie 1Km for Kids
http://www.somersault.ca/eventorleansruns.htm
Discount Deadline – March 15th Midnight
The final early season discount deadline is also fast approaching, so if you haven’t entered yet, why not save a few bucks and enter by March 15th at midnight. You can find and enter all Somersault events at http://www.somersault.ca/enter.htm. It only takes a few minutes to enter, and remember, if you enter by March 15th, you are allowed a free transfer of entry should your plans change during the year. After March 15th there is an administration fee of $15 for event transfers if they are made at least 1 week prior to the event.
Multiple Event Entry Package
Those of you who will be entering more than one event, can make things quicker and easier by using the Multiple Event Entry Form at http://www.eventsonline.ca/events/somersault_package/
Thanks for Helping Us Make Somersault Events Greener
As many of you are aware, we are introducing re-usable participant kits this year at all of our adult races. This move to greening Somersault events was made possible by the support of several benefactors who we would like to thank. They are:
- Jetje Antonietti – TD Canada Trust - Manager Residential Mortgages
- Gord Hunter – City of Ottawa Councilor – Knoxdale-Merivale Ward
- iRun Magazine
- Sportstats
- Booster Juice
- ZoomPhoto.ca
- Popeye’s Supplements

2010 Somersault Event Calendars
We invite you to download the colourful Somersault Event calendars and post them at home or office, to motivate you.
A Canadian Evening Marathon & Half Marathon - September 4th - Ottawa
http://www.somersault.ca/eventcanadianrun.htm
We are introducing the Canadian Evening Marathon & Half Marathon at the 2010 Canadian Iron 226 Triathlon & Duathlon on Labour Day weekend. These races are being introduced because we thought a long evening summer run might be nice. The event will also allow participants to run alongside the Iron distance Tri and Du competitors who started their day 12 hours earlier, and who have indicated that they would enjoy the company and encouragement of others during the marathon portion of their epic day.
July One Run - Not
After careful consideration of a number of factors, we have decided against introducing the July One Run in Orleans as we originally planned. We apologize for this change.
Champions Challenge & Junior Challenge 2010
We have made significant changes in the Champions Challenge this year. The scoring table has been completely revised, to make the competition among the more serious participants a bit more competitive – we think. We invite you to go to http://www.somersault.ca/championships.htm and check things out, and to take a look at the 2010 Champions Challenge Run Rankings. The first event – Winterman 2010 – has already been held, and the scores have been posted.
Event and Series Charities
We have been working diligently to incorporate community organizations in Somersault Events. You can review our Charity approach on the Somersault web site at http://www.somersault.ca/eventsfundraising.htm.
