Adam Kourakis Becomes Partner In Somersault Events

Effective immediately, Adam Kourakis is joining Christine McKinty as co-owner of Somersault Events.

Adam is a familiar face to anyone in Ottawa’s multisport community. He also owns Velofix Ottawa; a mobile bicycle shop featured on CBC’s Dragons Den. Adam is a certified triathlon coach. Through ROC Swimming and Zone3Sports he coaches athletes of all ages and abilities. After the retirement of local legend Rudy Hollywood, Adam stepped up to operate the motivational triathlon website TriRudy.com. He ran varsity track & field at uOttawa, where he earned a BSc with Specialization in Human Kinetics. Kourakis is also seen at dozens of local events and races every year, volunteering in many capacities.

“I’ve loved the series as an athlete, a spectator, a sponsor, and as a volunteer. I’m beyond excited to add ‘Race Director’ and ‘Partner’ to that list” says Adam. Former Partner, Ian Fraser, is leaving Somersault to pursue an opportunity with Run Ottawa. “When the opportunity to become an owner came up, I was really thrilled. Ian and Christine have been more than helpful with the transition and I’m glad to know that I have the support of the past and present owners”.

“I’ve been with Somersault from day one and I’m looking forward to this next chapter for Somersault.” says Christine, who co-founded Somersault over 30 years ago. “This company has been a staple in the community for as long as triathlon has been around. Having an owner who’s just as eager to support the community was really important to me. Adam has been a part of Somersault, in one-way-or-another, for over 15 years. He’s grown up on Somersault and I know that we’ll do great things together.”

The next Somersault event is Winterman. Adam will make his Race Director debut at this event on Sunday, February 16, 2020.

Local Entrepreneur and triathlon community leader takes on a new role with one of Canada’s largest multi-sport organizations.
