The Ottawa River Tri/Du/Run has changed its name to the Britannia Park Triathlon & Duathlon and Britannia Park Run.
Everything you love about this event is still the same, we’ve just changed the name to reflect the locale! Britannia Park has a rich history in the Bay Ward of Ottawa and we wanted to honour that history!
In the early days of the 20th century, Britannia Park was the place to be and was enjoyed by the citizens of Ottawa. They arrived to the park via Ottawa’s Electric Rail system! The line was retired in 1959 but the outer structure of the trolley station remains! You might recognize it as the the picnic shelter beside the bike path!
Britannia Park is still one of the most popular spots for residents of Ottawa. It’s beaches and park are packed on summer weekends! The Electric Railway Trolley station remains as an homage to the park’s rich history! It now serves as a picnic shelter for park-goers!
Somersault has been holding a triathlon event at the park for 10+ years and we’re grateful to local Bay Ward city councillor Theresa Kavanagh for her support as our community advocacy partner!
We’re looking forward to many more years and continued growth in participation in this great Ottawa event as a result of Bay Ward’s continued support!
Join us on Saturday June 8, 2019 for this amazing event!
