500M & 100M Triathlon Swim Courses
The swim is in Building #9 on the map below. Swimmers complete 2 pool lengths - 100M, or 10 pool lengths (500M) of the pool. Swimmers walk out of the pool building after they finish the swim and proceed to the T-Zone in Parking Lot #6.
Start Order and Procedure
Swim Starts will be ordered from fastest to slowest anticipated time. - with everyone in between them in the order of your anticipated swim time. It is very important that each Triathlon participant knows their anticipated 500m 0r 100m swim time. Time Signs on the pool deck will help guide you in finding your proper place in the start line.
Participants in the Try A Tri & the Super Sprint Tri (100m swim) must be on the pool deck by 7:30 a.m.
100m swimmers will participate in heats of 5 swimmers (1 per lane). Swimmers will start every 30 seconds by pushing off the end of the pool. Each swimmer will swim 2 lengths of the pool, climb out of the pool, and walk to the exit door of the pool building. Please make sure to be on deck by 8:00am
Each 500m swimmer will start in lane 1 of the pool and will start every 12 seconds by pushing off the end of the pool. Each swimmer will swim 10 lengths of the pool going down and back in each of the 5 extra wide lanes. After finishing the down and back swim in a lane, you duck under the lane rope, to go down and back in the next lane, etc., until you exit the pool from lane 5 after your 10th lengths.

Greenbelt Church volunteers are back again in action at this year's Early Bird event, raising funds that support this beautiful, caring charity. Greenbelt volunteers are on the bike and run courses so they can help ‘stay the course’ for local children in need. Safe Families Ottawa helps provide safe, caring homes for children who are in temporary crisis scenarios. These trained volunteers give families breathing room to deal with situations like homelessness, job loss, incarceration and unexpected medical issues that stop parents or guardians from providing care to their children. The aim is to provide care for these children until they can be safely reunited with family, instead of having children unnecessarily sent into the foster care system. Your donation can help provide safe places for children right here in our region. Thanks for helping make a difference!
